A 34-year-old man from Hamrun was granted bail today after pleading not guilty to injuring his wife with a knife during a domestic argument.

The case happened in the couple's apartment in Hamrun yesterday at around 12.15pm when the man, whose name cannot be published, hit his wife with the knife, slightly injuring her left hand.

Before Magistrate Ian Farrugia, the man pleaded not guilty to the charges brought against him, including threatening the woman and making her fear that violence would be used against her.

He was granted bail against a €2,000 deposit and a €2,000 personal guarantee.

He was also ordered to leave the matrimonial home. He will be living at his sister's home instead.

Police Inspector Robert Vella prosecuted while lawyers Franco Debono and Marion Camilleri appeared as defence counsel.
