‘Ageing in the Russian Federation: challenges and opportunities’ is the topic of a lecture to be given by Olga Mikhailova from St Petersburg University, Russia, on Wednesday at 4.30pm at the ground floor auditorium of the University’s Valletta campus, St Paul Street, Valletta.

The lecture is organised by the University of the Third Age in collaboration with the Association of Members of U3A.

Questioning the ‘post’ in postcolonialism

‘Upside down decolonisation in sub-national island jurisdictions: Questioning the post in postcolonialism’ is the title of a seminar that Godfrey Baldacchino will deliver on Wednesday from 6 to 7pm as part of the Work in Progress in the Social Studies. It will be held in the Faculty of Arts library, Old Humanities Building.

Baldacchino is professor of sociology at the University of Malta and island studies teaching fellow at the University of Prince Edward Island, Canada.

ICT workshop

The seventh edition of the Workshop in Information and Communication Technology (WICT) will be held on Thursday and Friday at the University’s Faculty of ICT, Msida campus.

The event provides a showcase for local research in ICT and a platform for industrial and academic collaboration.

WICT is targeted towards an audience with multi-disciplinary interests and particularly aims to foster collaboration with industrial partners. Paul Krause from the University of Surrey, UK, will give a keynote speech.

The registration fee is €35.

‘Roma barocca: la festa della Chiesa trionfante da Pietro da Cortona a Bernini e Pozzo’ is the title of a lecture to be delivered on Wednesday at 6.30pm by Marcello Fagiolo from the La Sapienza University, Rome, at the Italian Cultural Institute, St George’s Square, Valletta.

The lecture is organised by the University’s International Institute for Baroque Studies.
