Thirty-five transport and logistics companies from around the world, members of Transport Oriented Professional Services logistics network (TOPS) convened in Malta for a four-day general assembly held at the Westin Dragonara Resort. Express Trailers, which forms part of this network of operators, hosted the event.
The assembly kicked off with an opening ceremony and presentations, followed by welcome drinks and dinner. The rest of the event was an opportunity for representatives to engage in one-to-one meetings for networking and business collaborations. A team-building event was also held in Mdina.
Most of the participants hailed from the Far East, namely Indonesia, Thailand, China, India, Pakistan, the Philippines and Singapore. However, others came from all over Europe, namely France, Germany, Italy and the UK, as well as from Brazil, the US and Australia.
Being part of this network is a big advantage
“Express Trailers has been a member of the TOPS network for over 15 years and we are proud to have hosted the event. It was an opportunity for us to promote Malta not only as a logistics and hubbing centre in the Mediterranean and Europe but also as an ideal base for transshipment between Europe and the Far East,” said Express Trailers’ marketing and business development manager David Fleri Soler.
“We view our participation in this prestigious and exclusive network as a reflection of the high status the company enjoys in the industry. Being part of this network is a big advantage for our clients, especially those who are interested in our established weekly groupage service from Shangai, Hong Kong and Singapore and additional full-container loads from China and the Far East.
“The network gives us access to operators in these regions with whom we can do business and who ultimately, can help us strengthen our service offer,” he added.
TOPS chairman Jozef Muyshondt explained how the network’s role is to support members to establish contracts with major customers through a policy where only one company per country or per specialisation is admitted as member and that in Malta only Express Trailers were members.
