During the last few weeks, over 120 of Delicata’s vineyard owners and grape growers have attended four viticultural seminars, organised by the winemaking company to teach best practices regarding sustainable fertilisation.

Over 100 farmers attended from Maltese vineyards and 20 from Gozitan vineyards. The seminars were given in the Delicata cellars and were organised and conducted by viticulturist Jonathan Falzon and Matthew Delicata.

The main aim of these lectures was to emphasise the need for sustainable use of fertilisers during the upcoming viticultural cycle; through regular soil analysis, application of foliar sprays, the use of organic matter and the addition of sulfur for soil amendment.

In addition to that, the importance of integrated pest management was also highlighted.

In each session, Delicata growers were also given the opportunity to give their feedback and share their own wealth of experience with other growers present.
