The Police Commissioner should say whether he was investigating the alleged cases of private work in Gozo in the past two years under the administration of Minister Anton Refalo, the Nationalist Party said this afternoon.

Addressing a news conference, Justice shadow minister Jason Azzopardi said that if the law in Malta was really the same for all, the Commissioner should say what stage the investigations were in.

Dr Azzopardi  appealed to the police to do its duty and as it had investigated the allegations on such cases in the past, also investigate similar allegations of similar reports in the past two years.

He mentioned a number of reports uncovered in the media to date and which the police had not said anything about.

These included work at a restaurant in Marsalform, work in private fields in the limits of Ghasri, work on private properties in Xaghra, work on the property of Dr Refalo’s canvasser in Ghajnsielem, work on a farm in Munxar and work on garages in Victoria and San Lawrenz.

PN candidate Alessia Psaila Zammit asked what was the Prime Minister to do about the case.

She said that when the Giovanna Debono case came up, Joseph Muscat had immediately ensured that the police investigated and spoke about the case daily but he had now fallen silent.

She said that rather than fight abuse of power, Dr Muscat defended it.

This was the case when it came to former minister Manuel Mallia, ministers Konrad Mizzi, Joe Mizzi and Helena Dalli, parliamentary secretary Ian Borg, and MP Luciano Busuttil, Ms Psaila Zammit said.
