A gym instructor from Cospicua today pleaded not guilty to carrying out an armed robbery on a gaming parlour in his hometown in February and stealing €6,400 in cash.

The police charged Marflene Cricchiola, 28, with the armed robbery at Best Play gaming parlour in Santa Tereza Street at almost 11pm on February 11. He was also charged with relapsing and breaching various court sentences.

Defence lawyers Franco Debono and Angie Muscat asked Magistrate Antonio Micallef Trigona for their client to be released on bail. Dr Debono said the police had been investigating the robbery for quite some time and his client was called in for questioning on a number of occasions and always released on police bail.

Magistrate Micallef Trigona upheld the request and released him on bail against a €10,000 personal guarantee.

Police Inspectors Saviour Baldacchino and Josric Mifsud prosecuted.
