The Kavallieri RS2 women’s team retained the honour as Division Two league champions for the third time as the competition came to a close recently at the University Sports Hall, Tal-Qroqq.

After having to settle for the runners-up position in the early-season MHA Cup, the Kavallieri girls shifted focus to the championship and showed their intentions right from the first matches with a series of consistent results despite having a team mainly composed of young players.

Kavallieri went from strength to strength to finish the league unbeaten. The team’s progress enabled the coaches to give more playing time to fringe players, helping the squad to grow and flourish.

The Kavallieri RS2 men’s team had won the previous three Division Two championships in a row but this year they had to deal with stiff resistance from Swieqi Phoenix Mochika and Sayitmalta HMS to keep the sequence going.

After being held to two draws in the first round, the Kavallieri boys, under the guidance of Anthony Xuereb and Chris McClean, lifted their game by several notches to win their remaining matches and finish on top yet again.

It was not easy though as in the crucial matches Kavallieri just managed to edge Sayitmalta 19-17 and Swieqi 29-21 to make it four league titles in succession.
