The wage bill of the Malta Gaming Authority has risen by almost €1 million since the general election, because of recruitment.

Information given in Parliament by Economic Services Minister Chris Cardona shows that the wage bill has risen by €983,000.

The authority has recruited 60 people in two years, the biggest numbers being ‘officers’ at 10 and inspectors at 11.

Of the new employees, 10 are from Birkirkara, followed by six from Attard.

Dr Cardona was replying to a parliamentary question by Nationalist MP Jason Azzopardi.
