Should one take offence at Ivan’s Fenech’s opinion (April 28) for insinuating that the average Gozitan has the IQ of a goat?

Presumably, this is because the majority of Gozitans voted in favour of spring hunting at the referendum and for giving Labour a majority in the local council elections.

There are many Gozitan people like myself who support the PN and who voted against spring hunting.

Gozitans are intelligent people regardless of how they vote.

The Gozitan vote was affected by various factors, namely: Gozo is rural and voted no differently from other rural areas; many persons, and not just Gozitans, were goaded into believing that other pastimes besides hunting would be short-lived if the No camp won; the Prime Minister’s declaration that he would be voting Yes was intended to affect both the referendum and local council elections results; Simon Busuttil’s hands were tied and had no choice but to declarethat he was voting Yes; and the announcement that Barts would be investing in Gozo a few weeks before voting.

Clearly, the people’s vote depended on many factors.

This should be a wake-up call for the Nationalist Party to chase the lost votes (or goats?)
