A criminal libel case instituted by former European Commissioner and Nationalist minister John Dalli against Times of Malta was adjourned on April 22 after the two parties agreed to find a suitable arrangement.

Mr Dalli had instituted the case after the newspaper printed the heading ‘No suspension for Gatt and Dalli over Swiss accounts’ in relation to a story published on February 24, 2015.

Times of Malta had carried a front page correction the following day acknowledging that the article may have incorrectly implied that Mr Dalli held a secret HSBC Swiss bank account when in fact this was not the case.

As a result, Times of Malta has withdrawn the article from its website.

Meanwhile, Mr Dalli has agreed to withdraw criminal proceedings. This newspaper once again apologises to Mr Dalli for any inconvenience caused by the article.
