It is a real pity that the Sette Giugno monument has for so long been left isolated after being removed from St George’s Square, Valletta.

According to Renzo Piano, it should be placed between the new parliament building and Our Lady of Victory church. However, this does not appear possible because the area is now going to be allocated to the open air market.

One must bear in mind that this monument is very much linked to parliamentary history.

I suggest that the monument of Sir Paul Boffa be placed near those of Dom Mintoff and George Borg Olivier in Castille Square and the Sette Giugno monument be placed in its stead. This would embellish the area and the monument would still be close to the new parliament.
