Living in Malta for the last 18 months, I have not only come to appreciate the natural beauty of our island but have observed some things that can be improved at a minimal cost and with little effort.  These are just a few suggestions:

Make residents more aware of the value of recycling, perhaps introducing a refund programme.  All bottles, for example, can be recycled and reused. This can be a starting point for improving our environment.

Malfunctioning cars and trucks that cause air pollution should be fined. We are all breathing in many pollutants.

More stores and services should be encouraged to remain open all day. Doctors who practise in their own pharmacy should refund their fee if patients purchase medications from such pharmacies.

More car parks should be built as opposed to flats. This might alleviate the serious parking problem we have on this small island.

Customer service needs to be improved.

More garbage bins are needed throughout the country.

There needs to be better and more efficient lighting on our streets as some  are quite dark at night.

These are just a few common sense ideas. Is there something that can be done to facilitate some of these minor improvements?
