Smart City Kochi in India has inaugurated its first building. Together with Smart City Malta, Smart City Kochi forms part of a network of interconnected business communities across the world.

These communities are developed and managed by SmartCity, the international business parks arm of Dubai Holding, which seeks to replicate the success witnessed by the 11 business parks across six industries in Dubai. These business parks attract 80,000 knowledge workers every day.

Located in the southern Indian state of Kerala, Smart City Kochi marks the expansion of the Smart City global network as it inaugurates its first building. While each SmartCity operates as its own unit, communities around the world function as a global network.

Smart City Malta CEO Anthony Tabone said: “We are pleased to announce the development of Smart City Kochi as it is a reflection of the growth of SmartCity. Igniting connections and promoting growth, the Smart City network allows for the creation of new jobs for knowledge workers, establishes a multinational foothold for knowledge businesses and opens exciting new markets where companies can expand. Moreover, the growing Smart City network will connect business communities in Europe, the Middle East and the Indian subcontinent,” Mr Tabone added.
