A bus strike tomorrow has been averted as the dispute between Malta Public Transport and the General Workers Union has been resolved, the union said in a statement this morning.

The union had planned to take a series of actions, including a bus strike tomorrow after it claimed the Spanish-owned company had reduced some workers' wages.

This morning, the GWU said the company committed itself to pay back monies due to engineers on May 10 and to drivers on May 17.

The agreement was reached following a lengthy meeting yesterday afternoon. Both sides also agreed to start negotiating a new collective agreement with the aim of concluding negotiations in the next two months.
