Earlier this year, a rebel group by the name of ‘the Houthis’ forced Yemen’s President to step down. Immediately afterwards, Saudi Arabia and Iran each volunteered to help!

What this means is that there is now a proxy war going on between these two top dogs in the Middle East, with Yemen stuck in the middle.

The Saudis are conducting air strikes against the Houthis while the Iranians responded by sending warships for security reasons (that’s what they said). But many suspect that these warships are holding weapons to aid the Houthis.

In the meantime, the US, which strongly supports Saudi Arabia, is stepping up its game in these waters as well.

But the timing could not be worse because the US and Iran are working towards reaching a final nuclear deal.

Just for kicks, Al-Qaeda isexploiting all this chaos to spread its wings and gain more ground in the area.

Any solution would seem a long way off...
