Libya looked forward to a comprehensive resolution to all aspects of the migration crisis and reiterated its desire to be a true and effective partner within the Euro-Mediterranean framework, the recognised Libyan Embassy in Malta said in a statement this morning.

It said this could be achieved in cooperation with African countries that served as launching pads for migrants to Libya and consequently to Europe.

The embassy said it was following the escalation of the problem of irregular migration across the Mediterranean and the rising numbers of human victims from various countries.

In the face of such conditions and crises, it underlined the need for cooperation and support from the world community against the rising dangers of terrorist groups that dominated the outlets and institutions of the state, it said.

It noted that the problem of irregular migration was only one of the problems Libya was facing.

The embassy said Libya reasserted its readiness to engage, as a full partner, in the discussion of any regional or international solutions to this morbid problem that was claiming lives and voraciously exploiting human beings.

It offered its condolences and sympathies to the countries and families of the victims lost at sea, and regretted that this problem was unrelenting.
