Frans H. Said writes:

I have known Paul since my childhood, in the 1940s and 1950s, as he was a regular visitor to our house. I had followed his success, during which he never put any airs. He still visited my mother even during the few days when he used to be in Malta.

Eventually, after his retirement, I had invited him to present his biography during the children’s programmes. Over many episodes he not only went into detail but also presented some recordings never aired before. It is a great pity that all the recordings, like other historical programmes, were erased.

Paul was a down-to-earth person. Living in St Paul’s Bay, he used to take care of the church choir and would stop to talk to any passerby. His success never went to his head.

I earnestly hope he will be remembered properly in the future.
