Many schoolchildren use a minibus to go to school.

On boarding the minibus, as well as when alighting, more often than not it is the pupils themselves who open and close the minibus door.

If his door is not properly closed – and an accident occurs – who would be held responsible and accountable?

Will the onus fall on the last pupil who closed the minibus door or on the driver of the minibus?

It is high time clear guidelines are issued on this matter by the authorities responsible for school transport.

Safety on school minibuses should always be given importance.
