An impressive 2.5-metre handmade wooden model of the Great Carrack Sant’ Anna, built for the Order of St John, has joined the collection of the Malta Maritime Museum in Vittoriosa. The museum’s Keeper of Models, Joseph Abela (left), was commissioned to make the model by Heritage Malta and by the Order’s naval historian, Prof. Magisteur Robert Dauber (right). The Sant’ Anna was the largest warship built specifically for the Order’s navy, in Nice in 1522.
