On Monday, April 20, we received a traffic contravention ticket by post with no stamp or postmark, so we presume it was delivered by hand.

Consequently there is no way of knowing when or where it was sent from.

This was for an offence allegedly of parking on a pavement committed on January6, 2015.

So my first question is, why has it taken 110 days to arrive? Does anyone remember where they and their vehicle were exactly 110 days ago?

Luckily for me we do, as for the last 12 years at roughly the same time of day, six days a week, I have parked in exactly the same place for the same period of time and stay in the vehicle to collect my partner from work.

So my second question is: why didn’t the person who saw me allegedly parked incorrectly point this out to me politely and ask me to move?

Having been parking in ‘my spot’ for so long, I have witnessed three front-to-rear accidents and on one occasion actually helped direct traffic.

The police or wardens in attendance never commented on my parking error.

It would appear that for the last 110 days I have been committing the same crime so maybe there are numerous other tickets in the post and I may need a bank loan.

Today on our way home along the same stretch of road we saw 12 cars parked in the same manner.

My final point is that the tribunal for me to attend is to be held at 1pm.

Obviously most law-abiding citizens are at work at this time and it becomes easier and cheaper to ‘pay up andshut up’. Perhaps that is why the tickets take so long to arrive – so one cannot rememberthe details.

This whole scenario is just one more method of making money.
