Nearly 1,000 outlets across Malta have been equipped with Dynamic Currency Conversion-enabled point-of-sale terminals.

Customers using Global Payments’ DCC enjoy the convenience of paying for goods and services in the eight main non-euro currencies used by tourists.

“There are no undisclosed fees, so customers will know exactly what they are paying at the point of sale. Customers also benefit from competitive exchange rates, sourced on a daily basis from Reuters,” said Raymond Zammit, head of sales and relationships at Global Payments Ltd. The DCC service is offered free of charge to merchants, who will continue to be paid in euro with no additional charges.

Interested merchants should contact 2380 1447 for more information.

Vodafone introduces web chat

Customers can now get in touch with Vodafone via its new Web Chat service. Vodafone is the first mobile service provider in Malta to offer this service, which will be available every day between 8am and 10pm.

Through Web Chat, customers can engage with Vodafone agents online and obtain immediate replies.

“We are working to make online the first point of reference for our customers, giving them full control of their account,” Matthew Zammit, Vodafone’s digital customer experience senior executive, said.

“The idea behind Web Chat is to make this experience even more seamless. Being able to chat directly with our agents, rather than having to e-mail or phone our call centre, provides a fast and effective way for customers to engage with us whenever they need to.”

Innovative solar refrigeration technology launched

An innovative refrigeration technology which operates using solar renewable energy was launched in Malta by refrigeration experts Angelo Aquilina Refrigeration Supplies Ltd. This technology can save up to 70 per cent electrical consumption per annum at peak periods.

The Industrial Solar Cool System has already been installed at Golden Harvest Bakery.

“Given the data obtained from various industries where this technology has been installed, the energy savings are substantial,” said Justin Aquilina, Angelo Aquilina’s general manager.

“Apart from reducing a company’s energy overhead, the new technology helps to reduce ongoing equipment maintenance costs, extends the lifespan of the equipment and reduces C02 emissions, together with a good return on investment which is considerably low.”
