Parliament is to be recalled tomorrow morning to debate the developing migration situation.

Both Prime Minister Joseph Muscat and Opposition leader Simon Busuttil called for the recall. Parliament is currently in Easter recess.

Opposition leader Simon Busuttil wrote to Speaker Anglu Farrugia requesting a recall of Parliament to debate the developments.

In his letter, attached in the pdf link below, Dr Busuttil said the Prime Minister could inform the House about the discussions in the European Summit meeting today during a debate on the recent tragedies and the current situation.

In a statement later, the government said the Prime Minister made a ministerial statement to Parliament after every European Council summit. This was also done when an urgent council meeting was called.

In view of this, the Prime Minister proposed to the Speaker to hold an urgent sitting tomorrow morning.
