The daughter of singer Bobby Brown and the late Whitney Houston has “opened her eyes” three months after being found unresponsive in a bath in her Georgia home, but the extent of her recovery will not be known for years, a lawyer for her father has said.

Christopher Brown said he issued a statement to clarify comments that Bobby Brown made during a concert at the weekend about his daughter Bobbi Kristina Brown’s condition.

The statement goes on to say that “there has been improvement” in her condition, but adds that Bobbi Kristina, 22, is just now beginning rehabilitation “and the quality of her life will not be known for years to come”.

Bobbi Kristina is the only child of Brown and Houston. Houston, 48, was found face-down in about a foot of water in a bath in a Beverly Hills hotel room in February 2012, just before the Grammys. She later died and authorities concluded she had accidentally drowned.

On Saturday night, an emotional Bobby Brown told concert-goers that Bobbi Kristina was “awake” and “she is watching me”.
