The Star Wars universe's black-suited villain has gotten a gold makeover.

Japanese jeweller Ginza Tanaka unveiled a gold Darth Vader mask as well as commemorative coins, ahead of the newest Star Wars film which is set for release later in the year.

The mask, which is gold-plated, is not for sale.

But the solid gold coins engraved with Darth Vader or his Stormtroopers will be on sale from May 4 to April 30, 2016.

The weight of the coins ranges from five to 30 grammes and the smallest, five gramme Darth Vader coin is priced at 65,000 yen (540 USD).

A set of 11 coins of assorted designs and sizes costs about one million yen (8500 USD).
