FKA Twigs, the up-and-coming singer and girlfriend of Robert Pattinson, has been nominated alongside the likes of Hozier and Sam Smith for a top music award – an Ivor Novello.

The 27-year-old, who is rumoured to be engaged to the former Twilight star, is in the running for best contemporary song for a track she also co-wrote, Two Weeks. Clean Bandit’s Rather Be, featuring Jess Glynne, and Alt-J song Every Other Freckle are also up for the award.

Multiple Grammy and Brit winner Sam Smith is up for just one award. His ballad Stay With Me is in the running for most performed work, alongside George Ezra’s Budapest and Clean Bandit’s Rather Be.

Hozier’s big hit Take Me to Church is up for best song musically and lyrically, alongside Ben Howard’s I Forget Where We Were and Bear’s Den’s Above the Clouds of Pompeii.

Presented by the British Academy of Songwriters, Composers and Authors (BASCA), the awards, which are marking their 60th anniversary, are highly prized because they are voted for by songwriters and composers.

Royal Blood, Present Tense and Bombay Bicycle Club are up for the album award.

Best TV soundtrack features BBC drama The Honourable Woman, the second Channel 4 series of The Mill and ITV’s Victorian murder mystery The Suspicions of Mr Whicher – Beyond the Pale.

The original film score category pits Mr Turner against Belfast survival thriller 71 and animated movie The Boxtrolls.

The event, which honours works released in the UK during 2014, takes place on May 21 at Grosvenor House, Park Lane, London.
