I am a Swedish resident in Malta and have been here since 2010.

My wife and I took a bus from Valletta to Sliema last Monday, departing the terminus at about 12.05pm.

The bus driver spoke on his mobile phone the whole way, holding the phone in his hand – it was not hands free.

Throughout the journey he was in a conversation with his friend, which continued even whenpeople boarded the bus to pay. He only used his right hand to steer the bus.

He also drove very fast, having to brake hard at times because his focus was on the phone call rather than on the driving.

We were very scared all the way. I repeat, he did not touch the steering wheel with his left hand once throughout the trip. He put us all in danger. I have a photo of this driver.

I expect the transport authorities to investigate and fire the driver at once.
