I am so disappointed with Malta. When I was there last year for a two-week English language course, I met a lot of nice people and was impressed by this lovely island and its great history.

However, now I see another Malta. All over the world, whale hunters have learned not to kill these animals but instead show them to tourists.

Why can’t Malta learn from these countries?

Yes, we Germans too kill thousands of birds but they are not a part of nature that is under threat – they are birds produced by ourselves, chickens and turkeys.

Why is the need felt to kill birds that we, in northern Europe, try to protect at high cost.

Malta needs to grow up and become an adult member of the EU. I will love Malta again but at the moment I can’t.
