Emirates has hosted the in-flight premiere of National Geographic film Living in the Age of Airplanes onboard one of its double-decker A380 planes.

The film, intended for IMAX, giant screen, digital and other specialty cinemas, celebrates how aviation has changed the world.

It takes audiences on a journey through 95 locations in 18 countries, many of which are Emirates destinations. From the Maldives to the South Pole, the film shows how aeroplanes empowered a century of global connectedness our ancestors could never have imagined.

“Emirates brings countries and cultures together through travel, and we know that aviation also has a significant impacton global trade and economies,” said Patrick Brannelly, Emirates vice president for inflight entertainment.

Film pays homage to the lifeline of the aviation industry

“Living in the Age of Airplanes pays homage to the historic lifeline of the aviation industry, taking a look back at where we have come from and looking forward to a bright future.”

The 47-minute film, narrated by actor and pilot Harrison Ford, was produced and directed by Brian Terwilliger and set to an original score by Academy Award-winning composer and pilot James Horner.

Ahead of the world premiere in Washington DC this month, journalists from around the world watched a preview on 20-inch screens in the business class seats during a special flight over the Los Angeles area.
