Former MP and MEP Joseph Cuschieri has called on the Labour Party to take a series of measures to avoid a haemorrhage of votes after losing votes in 27 of the 34 localities where local council elections were held.
He said 54% of votes meant a Labour victory but the decrease of votes in most of the localities should not be ignored.
He said the party needed to listen to those who had not been given what was promised or who had not seen justice done.
Attention should be given to those who were always Labourite but who were ignored.
Those within the party who had become big-headed and arrogant needed to be reined in.
The party, he said, needed to remain close to the people. It also needed to stop ridiculing and under-estimating Simon Busuttil and the Nationalist Party.
