The Premier and Strada Stretta

‘The Premier and Strada Stretta: Maltese modern art and the Benjamin-Baudelairean idea of urban consciousness’ is the title of a public talk that Nikki Petroni will give on Friday at 6.30pm at the University’s Art Studio at the Valletta campus.

It is organised by the University’s History of Art Department as part of its modern and contemporary art lecture series. Petroni is a Ph.D. student studying Maltese modern and contemporary art under Giuseppe Schembri Bonaci’s supervision at the department.

Coleridge’s ancient mariner

‘Voyaging into the vast: Coleridge’s The rime of the ancient mariner, romantic orientalism and the world of the Arabian Nights’ is a public lecture to be given by Peter Vassallo tomorrow from 6 to 7pm at the Faculty of Arts Library.

The lecture is organised by the University’s Department of English to commemorate Donald Sultana, an ex-lecturer in the department and former reader in English Literature at the University of Edinburgh.

Youth work practice/policy in Italy and England

‘Bollenti spiriti and my place: lessons learnt for youth work practice and policy from an evaluation research on youth centres in Italy and England’ is a public lecture by Daniele Morciano at University Gateway Building, Hall C, on Wednesday from 6 to 7.30pm.

The lecture is organised by the Department of Youth and Community Studies of the University’s Faculty for Social Wellbeing.

Morciano is a research fellow at the Department of Educational Sciences, Psychology and Communication at the University of Bari ‘Aldo Moro’.
