Central Strip is headlining a live concert, Amplified, on April 30 at Stardust, Sliema. The other performing bands are Life Long War and Jack’s Fusion.

Central Strip is made up of Chris Gatt on vocals and guitars, Keith Bunce on guitars, Aleandro Spiteri on bass and Glen Spiteri on drums. The four 16-year-olds got together back in secondary school, when their shared dream to play music created a strong bond.

The band’s sound and influences come from a wide spectra of styles, varying from early 1900s jazz and blues to 21st-century indie, rock, pop, classic rock, ska and reggae infusions.

This interesting mix of influences serves as the foundation for the energetic indie rock sound most of the band’s original tracks boast.

In recent months, the budding musicians started giving more priority to creating original material.

Their first single, which is expected to be released shortly, will be followed by the release of the band’s first EP.

After placing with the top two bands in the Battle of the North (to Rock the South) event last February, the band earned a spot on the billing for the Rock the South music festival, where they received good feedback for their original material.
