Tensions boiled over at Naxxar counting hall this morning during the sorting of votes cast at St Paul's Bay.

The police had to intervene as the counting agents shouted at each other behind the perspex and almost came to blow. The disagreement was over the validity of some votes.

The process was briefly interrupted until those responsible calmed down.
