The third and last series of matches in this year’s BOV Winter League starts today and ends on Saturday, May 9.

There will be three matches in the championship play-offs and three to determine the last three places in the Premier Division.

Meanwhile, the last of two rounds of the first division league will also be completed, with leaders Marsaxlokk topping the table with nine points followed by holders Marsascala on six, Ta’ Xbiex (three) and Otters (no points).

The highlight of this pre-season competition will be the matches to decide the destination of the title between San Ġiljan, Sliema and Neptunes.

The Saints, on 13 points, one ahead of holders, Sliema, and three above Neptunes, will bid for their second success in this competition, having landed their honour in 1995, the second year of winter league.

San Ġiljan are so far the only unbeaten side and will no doubt try and maintain their advantage on the Blues and the Reds of Balluta Bay, two teams who will be eyeing their ninth winter title.

Sirens and Valletta, on six and three points respectively, and Exiles, with no points, will complete the bottom standings.
