A zebra crossing on Triq Fortunato Mizzi in Victoria was given a facelift yesterday and painted in the rainbow colours to promote the rights of lesbian, gay, bisexual and transgender people. This is the second such crossing to have been created, after the first on St Anne Street in Floriana last month. It is part of an initiative by the Civil Liberties Ministry to mark the first anniversary of the Civil Unions law having been approved by Parliament. Since then, of the 47 civil unions made in Malta, 30 were between same sex couples.
