The Health Promotion Unit will be going mobile to reach out more effectively to target audiences prone to sexually transmitted infections (STIs).

Parliamentary Secretary for Health Chris Fearne an-nounced yesterday that the mobile unit would be deployed to strategic locations around the country to amplify the range of sexual health advice and information.

Dr Fearne was addressing an event for a joint initiative between the Ministry for Education and the Health Promotion Unit, through which a number of educators participated in a train-the-trainers course focusing exclusively on sexuality and health.

He said local statistics indicated a small increase in the incidence of STIs, with the largest occurrence of syphilis in the 26-30 age group. The 21-25 age bracket topped the incidence of chlamydia and gonorrhoea.
