Thirty-nine men between 35 and 54 died in work-related accidents from 2007 to 2014, according to official figures.

Nearly half sustained head injuries and the others were hurt in the torso and various parts of the body, the National Statistics Office said.

Most of the deaths occurred in small businesses with one to nine employees. Half of the fatalities involved construction workers and the majority took place in the northern harbour district, followed by the southeastern and northern districts.
