Hibernians defender Rui De Gracia Gomes will miss most of his side’s title run-in after receiving a three-match ban.

De Gracia Gomes has been disciplined after being sent off in Hibs’ 3-2 win over Sliema Wanderers for headbutting Mateus after 17 minutes.

The Equatorial Guinea international will sit out Hibs’ games against Floriana, Balzan and Birkirkara. Hibs are surefire favourites to win the title as they lead Valletta by nine points with four matches remaining.

Andrew Cohen, the Hibs captain, has been suspended for one match after he collected his fourth yellow card in Sunday’s win.

Six other Premier League players have been handed a one-match.

Joseph Zerafa and Maurizio Mazzetti, suspended for four yellow cards, have been ruled out of Birkirkara’s match against Zebbug Rangers on Sunday while Valletta have lost Luke Dimech and Hamza Barry, also banned for four cautions, for their clash with Sliema Wanderers on Friday.

Floriana striker Matteo Piciollo received a one-match ban for his sending-off in the 1-0 derby defeat and will miss the clash with Hibernians.

Zebbug Rangers defender David Alejandro Reano can’t play in his side’s game against Birkirkara after being suspended for four yellow cards.

Pietá Hotspurs coach Noel Coleiro has been hit with a two-match touchline ban after he was dismissed from the bench during his team’s 3-2 defeat to Mosta last Friday.
