Come May, a special unit is going to welcome all those children and youths who suffer from mental problems.

It will be situated quite closeto the building of MountCarmel Hospital.

Theirs is not a sad case of ostracism; they are not a hindrance to society but they are people with psychological problems who need help.

Congratulations are in order to Chris Fearne and Konrad Mizzi for making this unit possible.

As the work on this unit draws to an end, I cannot help thinking that when the Nationalists were in power, theyhardly gave a moment’s thought to people with financial problems, let alone those with mental ailments.

As always it was a Labour government that showed genuine concern for the needs of Maltese and Gozitan folk.
