Another example of cynical disregard of the law in Tower Road, Sliema, at the bottom of Dingli Street. Tattered old pieces of fabric cover the scaffolding, uglifying the neighbourhood, and a large section of the hoarding at street level has been left uncovered and dangerous.

Static mobility

Shouldn’t mobile kiosks be just that? Mobile? It seems, however, that the owner of this kiosk just off the Birkirkara bypass not only has no idea of what mobility means but also seems to have the right connections in high places. He not only takes up valuable parking space, spilling onto the double yellow lines, but has also been granted direct electricity.

Stand still

This is the scene in front of Cafè Goloso in Balluta Bay. The yellow lines, painted purposely to leave much-needed space for people to be able to step down from the pavement while using a wheelchair or pushchair, have found other uses! A cafè worker told a reader the boards were not hindering anyone.

Dwindling numbers

Thousands turned up for the walk from Mellieħa to Senglea in aid of Puttinu Cares on the night of Maundy Thursday-Good Friday. However dwindling numbers were reported at a number of exhibitions open on Good Friday. The organisers think that the walk could be held on another day, since it is possibly leading to a decrease in the numbers visiting their exhibitions because many would prefer to go home to rest.

A shambles

The pond and fountain at the Lower Barrakka Garden in Valletta is in a shambles. Nothing works there. It is all dirty and messy. Such an important tourist spot deserves better.

Round the bend

Bollards were installed in the upper part of Iklin Hill. However, it seems drivers are not aware of them and quite a few have already been run into and broken. Drivers should be given advance warning of any traffic calming measures.
