Alfred Conti Borda writes:

The abrupt and sudden passing away of a dear friend and gentleman caught me off guard.

Louis was an old acquaintance of mine from St Aloysius’ College days in the late 1950s. About two years ago we happened to be on the same tour abroad together with our spouses. In those seven memorable days, I realised his passion for culture.

Since he lived in San Ġwann, the cart ruts there were the apple of his eye. He delved so deeply in the subject that he could give a lecture on the spot. His research knew no bounds, and only a few months ago I attended one of his very interesting lectures.

Consequently, he set up the Wirt San Ġwann Heritage association and encouraged me to join it. Every now and then, on Louis’s own initiative, stimulating lectures were delivered by erudite people to residents and to all those having national heritage at heart.

Louis will be remembered as a true patriot of San Ġwann, a family man and a very close friend of ours. He will be sorely missed.

Our fondest sympathies to his family. May the good Lord grant him eternal rest.
