The Parliamentary Secretariat for Rights of Persons with Disability and Active Ageing is to continue organising dementia training courses for employees in care-related sectors, including Gozo General Hospital.

The aim is to train more people, especially those in the health and elderly sectors, to care for people with dementia, the secretariat said.

Training sessions are being held on April 17 from 5 to 7.30pm and on April 18 from 9am to 12.30pm in the auditorium of the Gozo Secondary School in Victoria.

Training will include sessions on what dementia is, what services exist for people with dementia and their caregivers, how to address behavioural difficulties and activities that improve the quality of life of people suffering dementia.

Any employees wishing to register or needing information may contact the Parliamen-tary Secretariat’s offices on 2590 3175 or by e-mail at activeaging@gov.mt.
