Two hundred Palestinian couples, many of whom could not afford their own marriage celebrations, were married at a mass wedding in Gaza.

200 couples were chosen from families of those who had lost relatives in conflict, injured people, prisoners and the poor, as well as those who lost their homes during the 2014 conflict with Israel.

Local Palestinian group Fata organised the wedding, attended by around 5,000 people.

The cost of the event, an estimated $1 million, was funded by the Foundation of Khalifa Bin Zayed Al-Nahyan from Abu Dhabi in the United Arab Emirates.
