IBE returns: Jordon Ibe will return to Liverpool’s squad for the first time in six weeks against Newcastle at Anfield tomorrow. Warning: FIFA has written to the Indonesian government, asking the Minister of Youth and Sports to stop meddling in the running of the local league. FIFA takes a dim view of government interference in football and a ban could prevent Indonesia from participating in the qualifying tournaments for the 2018 World Cup and 2019 Asian Cup.

Rosenberg: Striker Markus Rosenberg, who secured a second successive league title with Malmo and led his side into the Champions League group stage, has signed a contract extension until 2017. The 32-year-old joined the Swedish champions in 2014 after an unhappy spell at WBA.

Costa: Chelsea’s leading scorer Diego Costa is likely to miss the next four games as his club attempt to regain the Premier League title, manager Jose Mourinho said. That means sitting out key matches against title rivals Arsenal and Manchester United as well as relegation strugglers Queens Park Rangers and Leicester. The Spain international injured a hamstring soon after coming on as a half-time substitute in last weekend’s home game against Stoke City.

Atalanta: Atalanta players interrupted a training session for around 10 minutes yesterday to be lectured by fans who are furious at the team’s poor recent performances. The players were taking part in an open training session when around 1,500 fans, who were watching from one of the stands, began protesting. The session was interrupted and a video posted on Gazzetta dello Sport’s website showed the players standing in line in front of the stand, listening to an angry rant by one of the fans’ leaders, named by the newspaper as Claudio Galimberti.
