Bayer Leverkusen defender Emir Spahic is being investigated by the state prosecutor over an alleged fight with stadium stewards following their German Cup quarter-final defeat to Bayern Munich.

The Bosnian and a group of friends are accused of clashing with the BayArena stewards following Wednesday’s game and video footage allegedly shows the player attacking staff repeatedly after being refused access to a part of the arena.

Bayer Leverkusen said police had passed on their report to the prosecutor’s office, which has since launched an investigation into the incident.

Twente docked points

Cash-strapped Twente Enschede have been docked three points for the second time after failing to meet the latest round of financial conditions set by the Dutch FA, the KNVB, said.

Twente, who were Dutch champions in 2010, were docked three points at the beginning of March for failing to put their financial affairs in order following a brush with bankruptcy.

The latest three-point deduction means they drop from 37 to 34 points and from 10th to 11th in the championship table.

Twente announced the closure of their scouting department.

They also cancelled their 50th anniversary celebrations, which were planned for tomorrow.

PSG and Marseille boycott Canal Plus

Paris St Germain and Marseille will not talk to Canal Plus until the end of the season after footage from the TV channel was used by the French League to suspend Zlatan Ibrahimovic and Dimitri Payet.

The LFP disciplinary committee used Canal Plus footage against PSG striker Ibrahimovic and Marseille forward Payet who were suspended for four and two games respectively for using abusive language last month.

Canal Plus is one of the two channels, with BeIN Sport, to broadcast the French Ligue 1.

Mourinho reckons Hazard is best by far

Eden Hazard is without equal in the Premier League this season and the clear player of the year, according to Chelsea boss Jose Mourinho.

The Belgium playmaker has sparkled at times, scoring 12 goals in 30 matches, to help Chelsea top the standings ahead of today’s clash at QPR.

“I think what he’s doing, speaking in an honest way, it shouldn’t even be a debate,” Mourinho said.

“If somebody throws other names on the table, it’s because he wants to sell papers, wants to throw some sand into people’s eyes, because this player (Hazard) is by far the best player in the Premier League all season.”

Hazard joined from Lille in a £32 million deal in the summer of 2012, and recently signed a new contract until 2021.

Maradona hits out at United’s Van Gaal

Diego Maradona has likened Louis van Gaal to the devil over his treatment of mis-firing Manchester United striker Rada-mel Falcao.

Falcao has been on the bench for the last five games and that has not gone down well with Mara-dona.

The former Argentina star, speaking at a press conference in Bogota to promote a charity match, criticised United boss Van Gaal for his handling of the two-time Ballon d’Or nominee.

“Van Gaal is not a nice guy,” Maradona said when asked about the Dutchman’s handling of Rada-mel Falcao.

“Van Gaal is closer to the devil than anything.”

Milan seek to make it three on the trot

Milan will believe their season has taken a turn for the better if they beat Sampdoria at the San Siro this evening.

The Rossoneri head into the match on the back of two straight wins that have seen them climb to eighth in the standings. Milan beat Cagliari 3-1 and followed that up with a 2-1 triumph at Palermo last weekend.

Filippo Inzaghi’s men will look to clinch their third win on the trot, something they have failed to do all season.

“I hope we can repay the trust of our fans from here until the end,” Inzaghi said.

“For our fans, it’s hard to accept that this team is not fighting for the scudetto but it has been a peculiar year. I believe that this club will soon return where we all expect it to be.”

Monaco lose their captain Toulalan

Monaco warmed up for their Champions League trip to Juventus with a 3-0 win at Caen on Friday to go third in the Ligue 1 standings but lost captain Jeremy Toulalan to a thigh injury.

Forward Anthony Martial gave Monaco a first-half lead and midfielder Bernardo Silva netted a double after the break to put Monaco on 58 points from 32 games, four points adrift of leaders Paris St Germain who have a game in hand.

Monaco travel to Juventus for the first leg of their quarter-final on Tuesday in solid form, having conceded only two goals in their last four matches.

They will possibly be without midfielder Toulalan, however, as the captain was replaced by Fabinho five minutes into the second half with a suspected left thigh injury.
