Everything from the prints to the cuts in the spring/summer collection 2015 by Guess recalls the City of Angels and illustrates the brand’s vision of a playful wardrobe. ‘Feel free, act young and move fast’ could be the motto behind this collection.

Los Angeles is the epicentre of casual cool and the new collection recalls simply that. A colourful wardrobe rich in beach-inspired prints gives the tone and appeals to those who love summer’s casualness and happiness.

Young and beautiful, the fashion forecasters walk on the wild side on Sunset Boulevard and dare to slip into some 50s Grease-inspired outfits. The neon-coloured and oversized billboards are the perfect background for a car race and an evening drop in front of a nightclub.

The brand reflects West Hollywood lifestyles. Hence the clothes feature details inspired by bikers’ uniforms, are cut in textured fabrics such as soft suede recalling rock ’n’ roll legends and surprise us with tattoo-like patterns and romantic lace cut-outs. Girly colours, such as daisy green, stage pink and amy pink, are accentuated by touches of jet black and deep blue.

The Californian spring/summer season wouldn’t be magic without its music festivals and epicurean lifestyles. The Guess wardrobe pops out with its bold colours and flashy patterns. A rich paisley and some Japanese floral prints stand alongside phoenix-inspired designs on loose or fitted cuts, depending on the time of day.

Back to the brand’s roots, the collection is about the best of the 90s, with a great focus on denims, strong attitudes underlined by various cuts, American casual wear made in California and a sense of cool that doesn’t lack sophistication.

New fits and styles: Bombshell bodysuits are some of the major styles alongside the brand’s iconic 1981 three-zip cropped denim and the new 1981 button fly retrofit.

Staying true to the Guess fit, the key fabric this season is power stretch premium denim, available in a large range of washes, the stars being the bright peacock and true denim blues.

The legendary acid wash denims are having a momentum. Their texture and soft blue hues match the seasonal soft-colour palette to perfection.

Black acid-washed fabrics, graffiti prints and textured denims have been designed to create bold silhouettes.
