This year’s Malta Robotics Olympiad will be held on April 22 at the Cottonera Sports Complex.

The event is open to students between the ages of eight and 20. Over 20 teams made up of primary and secondary school students will be participating in three categories of challenges. Each team, comprising an adult coach and two or three members, will need to use engineering, programming, creativity and problem solving skills to build and programme a robot to solve a number of tasks. The teams will be cheered by fellow classmates who also will be able to participate in hands-on workshops and displays.

Between 5 and 8pm the public is invited to attend the awards ceremony, a design and technology expo, open category presentations, interactive displays and participate in robotic activities. Free gifts will be distributed to those attending the events.

Students and the public are also invited to an exhibition by the Design and Technology (D&T) Learning Centre on the morning of April 23.

The olympiad is organised by the Department of eLearning and the Department of Curriculum of the Ministry of Education and the Malta Council for Science and Technology (MCST) with the support of Trelleborg Sealing Solutions Malta Ltd and IMS Ltd.
