Three members of the team organising the Commonwealth Heads of Government Meeting (CHOGM) in Malta have resigned.

The resignations, which occurred over the past few weeks, involved security and logistics coordinator Kurt Cini and communications coordinators Deborah Grech and Alessandra Pace, who were responsible for dealing with the media and promoting the event.

The moves follow a Sunday Times of Malta interview last month in which the chairwoman of the CHOGM task force, Phyllis Muscat, failed to answer a number of questions on the organisation of the event.

Prime Minister Joseph Muscat had defended Ms Muscat after the interview saying “everyone has his off days”.

A spokeswoman for the CHOGM team yesterday said the three had “moved on to pursue other opportunities”.

Sources, however, said that while the resignations were not coordinated but individual, they were the result of “differences” with Ms Muscat.
