Monaco: Jeremy Toulalan is among four players who have signed contract extensions with Ligue 1 side Monaco yesterday. The 31-year-old has committed his future to the club until the summer of 2017 having helped lead a charge into the last eight of the Champions League. Also re-signing at the Stade Louis II a week before the first leg of a quarter-final against Juventus are goalkeeper Danijel Subasic, winger Nabil Dirar and right-back Andrea Raggi.

Fined: Bayer Leverkusen have been fined €20,000 by UEFA after fans unfurled an offensive banner in their Champions League last 16 first leg against Atletico Madrid in February. Leverkusen said they were now going through visual material from the game to identify the fans responsible and attempt to recover the money directly from them.

Rotor Volgograd: Rotor Volgograd, one of Russia’s leading clubs in the 1990s and who famously beat Manchester United in the UEFA Cup 20 years ago, have been wound up after going bankrupt. The team from the Volga region of Russia were competing in the second division in the southern zone, which is effectively Russian football’s third tier. Volgograd is one of the 11 host cities for the 2018 World Cup although Rotor did not play at the Victory Arena which will have a capacity of 45,000 spectators.

Sturrock: League One strugglers Yeovil have appointed Paul Sturrock as their manager. The former Plymouth and Southampton boss had been out of work since leaving Southend in 2013 before a four-day spell at Torquay over the Easter weekend. He departed Plainmoor having been offered this role with the Glovers, set for relegation to League Two.

Garcia: Malaga forward Samuel Garcia has signed a three-year extension to his contract with the Primera Liga side. The 24-year-old will now remain at La Rosaleda until the end of the 2018-19 season if the Spaniard sees out his new deal. Malaga were keen to tie Samuel to a long-term contract with Liverpool and Valencia keen on his services.
