The award of the George Cross to Malta is being commemorated by the Malta Tourism Authority on Tuesday at St George's Square in Valletta, the same square where the actual ceremony was held 73 years ago.

The programme will start at 7.30pm with a marching display by the Armed Forces of Malta Band, who will be escorting the George Cross to the President’s Palace. A display by the Armed Forces Drill Squad and the Armed Forces Band together with the Malta Police Band will follow.

The son-et-lumiere will depict the dark episodes of World War II that relate to Malta which led to the awarding of the GC medal to the Maltese nation.
