Four turtles are currently undergoing rehabilitation at the San Luċjan tower in Marsaxlokk in a project run by Nature Trust (Malta), three of which were found injured close to the coast after swallowing fishing line and hooks.

Hard Rock Cafe Malta is helping in the project and has also launched a campaign aimed at supporting the setting up of a new wildlife rehabilitation centre in Xrobb l-Għaġin, which will provide more facilities for the rehabilitation of injured turtles as well as cetaceans and other locally protected rescued wildlife.

“Saving the planet is one of our core mottos,” said Adolf Vella from Hard Rock Cafe.

Nature Trust president Vince Attard said the funds would go towards turtle medication and to co-finance the rehabilitation centre project. Plans for phase two of the Xrobb l-Għaġin Park project are ready and a Mepa application will be made in the coming weeks.
